Edward and Julia stayed with us on Saturday night, because we'd planned a family meal, assuming that the family would be 7 by then, which of course it was, but three were still at the hospital.
On Sunday we were able to visit, so we were all together for the first time. We've got loads of pictures, some of which might get onto this blog, although I'm sure there'll be plenty on Ruth and Johnnie's site.
Saturday morning was rather stressful, just waiting, not knowing what was going on. Johnnie said on Sunday that after Margaret had rung the hospital, he was on his way to call us, but then Ruth wasn't in the sort of state he could leave her.
We asked about which language she was using when talking to the baby, and it seems that English comes first. When asked about the language during the delivery, English was obviously saved up for the really tough parts. Johnnie said that the staff didn't understand so very much English! I expect that they'd probably never heard the really rude English that probably came out!
The little fellow will probably be called Victor Rune Edward McNamara. Ruth said that they've been reluctant to tell anyone the names, because then it stops being a 'working title' and becomes more permanent.
It's official! Johnnie on the jrbaby blog site has now announced the name!
Since she told us, I suspect that these fine names will probably stick. We'd informally started to call him Harry (same name as Ruth's cat, who died incidentally last October), this is also a good name, and it seems that Ruth took a long time over deciding his name as well!
Oh yes, before visiting on Sunday Edward, Julia, Margaret and I went mushroom picking and got quite a lot.
All in all a good weekend.
